Can not believe the discussion...

I had with my daughter yesterday!  Her BFF at school, as she calls her, wears a bra!  Do you know how old these children are?!?!?!  6 years old!  Who needs a bra at 6 years old!  An undershirt I understand but a bra, really?  Okay, now that I have typed that I feel a little calmer.  I am so hoping that these girls are not in the same class next year.  My Ainsley also told me last week that she thought she was plain next to her friend.  She is 6!  I tell her she is beautiful all the time because frankly she is.  She is adorable and charming and always draws attention from strangers because of her hair.  Oh Lord, all of this is starting too early!

this past weekend for a commitment ceremony.  Yes, my SIL is gay and got "married".  This is a topic of discussion that I struggle with because I am acutely aware of how many Christians feel about the subject.  Here are my thoughts however.  Yes, I believe that they are committing a sin, but who am I to judge that sin.  How is my sin any less than hers.  That is between her and God and as long as she has a relationship with Him then it is for Him to deal with her.  My husband is fiercely devoted to his sister and our Christian life has previously been a source of contention between them as far as her accusing us of being judgemental of her when we have said nothing.  But, we love her and that is the important thing.  I had to explain to Aidan the situation a bit, but not with any significant details.  I told him that he might hear ugly things from people, but that we need to remember that we love Aunt D.  I do take a bit of issue with the church she attends because I don't understand how they can choose to ignore certain parts of the bible, but I know many straight Christians who do the same.  It makes no sense when they do it either.  So, there is the thorn in my side with how to talk about such worldly situations with my children.  Ainsley still is to young to really get it, but Aidan is old enough and observant enough to hear what people say and notice that something is different.

Back to life...

We spent a very quick weekend in Austin this past weekend.  I had to pull the kids out of school for 2 days and we came back exhausted.  The kids had fun but were ready to come home.  I don't think we will be able to head to Texas now for our extended trip without stopping at Aunt D's house.  This is the view from her back yard.  This is the mouth of the Pedernales River where it dumps into Lake Travis.  The kids got to fish and swim.  We did go for an event though and I will get into more detail as I am able to collect my thoughts on what to say.  Trying to catch up on house keeping and laundry.  More again later this week!

Angels in Human Form...

Well, I have had an interesting morning!  On my first school run of the morning, my low tire pressure light came on.  Anytime the car beeps at us my children get concerned and since the ride wasn't feeling strange, I reassured them that everything was fine and that after I ran Aidan to school we would stop at a gas station to put air in the tire until I could get to the tire place.  That was not to be the case!  By the time I was turning into the school the car was pulling hard to the right and making scraping sounds.  The tire was completely flat.  Well, I got Aidan into the school, he has testing today so he could not be late, and proceeded to root around in my trunk for tire changing supplies when another parent parked next to me and offered to help.  He thankfully started to change my tire in the pouring down rain!  A mom I met just before spring break also offered to help by taking my youngest to school for me.  The gentleman helping was done very quickly so I did not need to take her up on her offer, but she gave me her number in case I got stuck at the service station.  I was able to drive Ainsley to school and stopped at a tire service place near the school.  They had me in and out in about 45 minutes.  I am blessed by the kind people I have meet so far in this area!  They are angels in human form I tell you.  I love how the Lord provides help just when we need it.  My hubby is in Kansas today and would not have been available for a rescue.  Just had to tell my story today.  Hope everyone has a good day!

Blah...

I have the guests just left my house blues.  My parent's just left this morning after a 5 day visit during the kids spring break.  The house is always so quiet after.  Sending my Dad home with a nasty cold though.  He must have brought it with him as he had only been here over night when symptoms started.  I will post a few pictures after I get my act together later this week.
