I am actually planning, yes I said planning, on having a good day. Ainsley is supposed to be tumbling and has recovered from her pink eye well enough to go, but Mommy is still not feeling too great. Better but not up to jumping and supporting Ainsley on gym equipment etc.
I have decided on giving up certain tasks that I wanted to have done before we leave town and will be grateful to merely have bags packed, clean clothes, gifts in tow and gifts that are staying here wrapped. I have given up the illusion that I will be making candy gift bags for friends and neighbors and will solely work on getting a batch of treats made for B to take to work. My apologies to anyone whose children don't get their gifts on time because that is probably not happening either. I have been too sick to even deal with most things and I think this sickness is a wake-up call for me to slow down and stop putting so much pressure on myself. Wow, I always go into the holiday season with all this "stuff" that I want to do. This year it came to a screeching halt and probably for good reason. Do you realize that I have only been healthy for one week since Thanksgiving. That is just sad. We have had to postpone my birthday girls dinner out simply because I have not been healthy enough to go. I am done with overcommitting and done with expecting too much of myself.
Aidan's surgery is Jan 3 so will will be sitting out of the Winter 1 session of Y activities. We can pick up Winter 2 in March if we are doing well, only one activity per child, most likely swimming. This is my early New Years Resolution. So pals of mine who read this, I need you to keep me accountable. Later guys and if I don't have a chance to post again before we leave town, have a Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday Jesus, remember the reason for this season.
If you get the chance pick up a copy of Josh Groban's Noel. It is just amazing!

We are a family of sickies...
Aidan's ear infection flared up again Friday so they sent him home from school feverish. Late that evening there was a frantic trip to the doctors office with Aidan with 104 degree temp even with Tylenol in his system. Friday night the cold I have been nursing turned ugly and my right cheek got swollen and tender. I go in on Saturday morning to urgent care and I apparently now have a sinus infection. When I get back, Brian says to me that Ainsley needs to go in too, I take a good look at her and what I thought was simply tired looking eyes wasn't. Brian takes her in to urgent care so that I can eat something and take my medicine and it turns out she has pink eye. All before our lovely trip down to Tx. I am seriously thinking of canceling now. Maybe they will let us change out tickets to use sometime this summer. I got out of nursery duty this weekend. Walgreens and our medical insurance has made a bundle off of us this weekend!

January 3...
is Aidan's surgery day. I am going to need to talk to his teacher.
Also, I finally got my Christmas cards out today. If anyone was missed I am sorry, I sent out 40 and that is way more than I sent last year, but I am not sending anymore otherwise I have to run and pick some up because I only ordered 40. That is the grinchyness in me coming out. Too much stress and too much to do.
Aidan's Christmas program is today so I hope to get some cute pictures. Later gater!

It looks like...
I am going to schedule Aidan's surgery for early January, depending on the dr schedule, and that we will go ahead and go to Tx for the holiday. Not sure what else to do, I am still so in denial about all of this. I am trying to hand this over to God, but I feel like I am still keeping my thumb on it just so that I have something to fret about. Does anyone know what I mean or do I sound totally nuts?
I was checking a friends blog today and she was saying that she is not in the Christmas spirit. I am so totally with her on that one. She had very different issues she is dealing with right now, but I feel this total lack of feeling about this whole holiday this year. I should be excited to see my parents and in-laws. I should be excited about giving gifts and being part of other holiday festivities, but my heart is just not in it this year. It is really hard for me to admit. It isn't because of everything with Aidan because I was feeling this way before all of this started. Just down for some reason. Maybe the weather, maybe feeling stressed about travelling and how I am going to get everything where it needs to be. Not sure. Mostly I am feeling tired right now and I have a ton to do and I am feeling like it will never get done. and I only have a week and a half now to do it. I have to get off my bottom and get some packages wrapped and get to the post office. Less for me to stress about that way!
I did have a great morning by the way. Ladies bible study brunch and my neighbor Miss M came! Miss B and I almost have her talked into coming to church on Sunday. Pray with me that she will come. Today was such and uplifting morning and I so needed that!

What to do?
We are looking at having tonsils adenoids out and tubes put in. What a mess right before the holiday. We are supposed to travel, but maybe we should cancel. I asked Aidan and he said he would be really upset if we could not go to Tx for Christmas. Maybe as soon as we get back. Don't know what to do, but the medicine they gave us Thursday is not working.
Ear nose and throat...
appointment is today. We are seeing the nurse practitioner. Say some prayers please. Maybe they can do something for him and we can consider the surgery for later if it comes to that. The nasal wash is not going well, Aidan frights every step of the way and I know it is not working like it is supposed to. He will however let me squirt the nasal spray in his nose as it is just two quick squirts. I will keep everyone posted I hope. Busy week getting busier by the minute.

Prayers for Aidan please...
Aidan has pretty much been congested more on than off since school started. I took him to the Dr today because he was running fever and complaining of ear pain. He is finally being referred to an ear nose and throat specialist. His ped is concerned about his tonsils and thinks they may be part of his problem. Most likely that they are somehow harboring the virus that keeps causing his congestion. She sent me home with the referral and samples of some nasal spray and a saline nasal wash. We will be trying that out later this afternoon. I will let you know how it goes. We are in the worst case looking and removing tonsils and possibly adenoids...I had mentioned that his snoring wakes him up a night sometimes. Anyway, please be praying for my boy. I have been a wreck today!

Much needed day home today...
by default really. Ainsley threw up last night so any plans we had today...tumbling...were immediately cancelled. She seems to be better. Her appetite has picked up. For lunch she ate saltines from breakfast, cheerios, and half an apple. Not bad for a kid who doesn't eat much anyway. Well, she did add extra laundry to the cycle but at least I don't have to wash hers again this week unless she gets sick again. I will keep her on her bland diet the rest of the day and see how she is again in the morning. Off to get my laundry!

Feeling old today...
but I will get over it. Actually besides the continuing migraine it has been a pretty good day so far. I still have a ton to do, but it will get done eventually. I have a list now of things that I need to do this week for whatever reason I had convinced myslf before that I had to get everything done today. Nope, I can not cram everything into one day and I am going to just hand everything else over to God. I refuse to stress about such things everythin will happen in its time. I need to get something in the crock for dinner so I will post more another time.
I spent a good long time talking with a dear friend of mine yesterday and it was the best. Love you dearly my friend! You really made my day.
