One week...

is all Aidan has left of summer vacation. He is still coughing and hacking away, so if he is not better by Thursday I may take him in to the Dr.

We had a babysitter this weekend. Went to dinner and the Bourne Ultimatum movie. Very intense. Highly recommend it if you are a fan of the other movies.

My parents are in PR. They left on Saturday. I am jealous, but we would be missing meet the teacher if we went. Aidan being comfortable on the first day is the most important thing right now. Anyway, I am trying not to be sad or depressed about this. Bible study will be starting in a few weeks and maybe gymnastics for Ainsley. So we will be plenty busy. Later folks!

Just some pics...

Ainsley pudding face and towels we received to commemorate our baptism. Pretty cool huh.

Baptism and other things

We had a busy weekend. Finally got some much needed rain. Went to visit Aidan's friend Cale that is moving to Ohio. Went to another little friends birthday party. Stopped by the office so B could show off his new digs.

Sunday B and I gave our testimonies in front of the church and were baptized that afternoon with about 40 others. Because of the rain, it was stinking cold out and the waters were really choppy. My friend Miss J was baptized too and her hubby got pictures of all of us so hopefully they will e-mail them over soon. Signed up for the fall bible study as well.

Fall is looming ahead of us as we have gotten a taste of cooler temperatures this last few days due to the rain and clouds. It should be warmer tomorrow. Aidan is sick with a bad cough so I am keeping him in for a few days. B is in Cleveland on business this week and will be back on Friday which also happens to be our 11 year anniversary. He doesn't read this so I can say that I got him this awesome watch. Finally he is wearing one regularly so I can get him a nice one. The store I bought it at gave me a great deal too they knocked off $30 because I was a new customer. Pretty cool.

Just rambling today a bit as I have been catching up on sleep and collecting my thoughts. I am so glad that I was finally baptized. I just really don't have words for all that is going through my head right now. Overwhelmed I guess. I gave my testimony and did not die of an anxiety attack, and I even managed to get a few laughs. I didn't know that I could be funny, I never consider myself as such.

My parents are heading to PR this weekend. I am sad as that I could have gone, but was afraid to fly that far alone with the kids. My parents could have met up with me, but I would have had to make the flight back alone changing planes at least once. I can be such a chicken sometimes. Probably good that I didn't go as we would have had to fly back right before Aidan goes to school plus with this cough that he is having might not have been a good mix.

Well, more later dudes!

Congrats B...

He got his promotion! No moving to Minnesota for us, praise God and we get to stay in the area for a while longer. Now he has to fill his old position. Anyone interested, wink wink nudge nudge! Now if I could only be disciplined enough to put his raise into savings so that we can save more money for some things we want to do...

B's company picnic

I can't stand work functions. While it is meant to be fun for the family, it really isn't. Today ended up being scorching hot. The kids were missing their nap time. I don't know that many people and while B was better about introducing me around this year, he spent most of his time working the party. He had to take his turn in the dunk tank, because I had two grumpy kids I have no pictures, which took the better part of an hour since he ended up spending more time in there than he was scheduled for. Then it takes him forever to get his gear and changed. The kids get frustrated because the games they have are too advanced for them. Aidan doesn't quite understand that you don't get a prize just for trying. I finally just took them home and in spite of the late hour told them they were going to rest quietly in their rooms in the cool air for at least 30 minutes. Everyone got a little rest that way and were better when they got up. B is still not home because he went out with his buddies. He asked if I wanted to come but where am I going to get a babysitter last minute! I get so frustrated some times with him that it just drives me nuts. He wants us to be at work functions but he can't hang with us and since I don't really know anybody I end up chasing the kids around by myself. It is not worth the aggravation in my book. I don't mind the thought of bringing the guys here to drink if that is what they want to do either, but B doesn't think of that. Sorry guys just venting a little here, just a frustrating day all the way around.

Funny story...

while I was pissed yesterday when this happened it is too funny not to share. We have been having some masonry work done on our bilco door this past week. Yesterday they poured some concrete and left for the day. Around 5:30 while we had been eating dinner we hear a knock at the back door, Brian gets up to check and it is the masonry guy wanting to put a tarp over the door because it is supposed to rain and he doesn't want our basement to get flooded out. We are grateful and head out to help him. I don't like to leave the dog loose in the house unattended so I put her in the bathroom and headed out leaving the kids instructions to eat their dinner. While I am out Aidan announces that he needs to go potty. FIne no problem , just let Alex out and wash your hands when you are done. In a few minutes I hear Aidan screaming, my chicken is gone! I run in and check his plate and his chicken is gone as well as B's. We finally realized in the 2 minutes that Aidan was in the bathroom Alex had eaten both of their dinners. B and Aidan were so upset. Aidan had already eaten most of his other food and really the chicken was all that remained. B on the other hand had not gotten to eat more than two or three bites as he had arrived late. B went to DQ after the kids went to bed because he was starving and not interested in eating a PBand J sandwich since he had one for lunch. Poor baby! Doggie went to stay outside for the evening and I think as long as the weather is descent she will stay outside during meal times from now on. I have never been able to trust her around the table!

School supply shopping...

happened today while we were getting groceries at Wal-Mart. Aidan had such a blast. He picked out a new back pack, lunch box, folder, pencils, crayons, and glue. He had a blast. Not I have the task of labeling everything. I am so sad, my little one is growing up.

Shopping therapy...

Aidan wanted to play at the mall playplace today so we drove over to the big mall and played, had lunch on the condition that Mommy would be allowed to shop. I always feel rushed but they behaved pretty well and I hit all the stores that needed to be hit. Mostly I was getting odds and ends for back to school. I went through Aidan's fall/winter gear this past week and took out anything that was too small. Since I had gone on a shopping frenzy for him in pants this spring, he really is only in need of shirts and sweaters. I found about 4 shirts that I liked and got him a new pair of sneakers and hiking style boots. I am going to check out the other mall that I like to go to in a week or two to see if I find anything else I like there. I also got myself 2 new pairs of sunglasses since the ones I bought earlier this summer broke already.

Wow, I am just realizing that my dog is getting old. I just got off the phone with the vet, all her medications are out of whack this time. Thyroid is too low and phenobarb levels are fine, but her liver enzymes are elevated so he doubled the thyroid dosage and lowered the phenobarb dosage in hopes that he liver enzymes come down. I guess if they don't they will have to change her medication. Poor doggie who is old and turning grey and arthritic. She usually drives me nuts, but I don't want her to feel bad. Stay cool everyone as it is so humid here today because it was misting all morning. Now the masonry guys are here to work on our basement bilco door so doggie is in the house and going bananas. Oh the barking, I may put her bark collar on her just so she will quit.
