Snow Day in College Station

Check out this cute video here. I came across this on FB posted under my University page. In my college years I believe it snowed once while we were at school, maybe twice. Cute to see that college students are still the same when it comes to snow. This video is really well done.

Sunshiny day here today and I am so enjoying it!

Nothing to say...

lately which is why I haven't posted. I have been busy trying to stay on top of my household duties, the mess and chaos makes me feel worse. Trying not to get the winter doldrums get the best of me. I did start taking some Vitamin D supplements thinking that it couldn't really hurt to do so. I am so ready for spring/summer. Short sleeves, sandals, open windows letting in the lake breeze. No more running to school, no more muck all over my shoes, no more muck on my floor. I am trying also to stay crafty. Keeping up with things I enjoy, even if it is for small amounts of time, also makes me happy. Friday is a day off from school which it seems we are all looking forward to. My hubby is going to try to take at least half a day off so maybe we can get out and do something. I have an idea in mind, but not sure if it will work. Praying that he gets the day off! Of course he is the boss man so it shouldn't be too hard. Anyway, just wanted to let everyone I was still here, still breathing, still shoveling the snow which has been difficult since it has been so melty lately. I step off my porch into about 3-4 inches of slush. Ah, the joys of winter. At least I am grateful that the temperatures are reasonable and not below freezing! Ah well, disjointed post I know. My apologies and I will do better next time!

Birthday recap and other things...

Ainsley's party was cancelled due to strep throat but she was well enough on Saturday to enjoy some chocolate cake. I love the little bakery around the corner from our house. All I had to do was tell them that my daughter needed a pink cake and this is what they came up with for me. So cute! Tasty too!
My Mom was inspired to make Ainsley a princess dress after we spotted one in one of those high end toy shops in Philadelphia. My Mom's response as usual was, I can make that. Make it she did! This is so much better construction than anything that you can get at the store. I may have to ask her to make Ainsley another one!
Sunday Ainsley's request was breakfast at Perkins. So we got her all dolled up in her dress meant for the Valentine's Father Daughter dance and the corsage that Daddy had made for her. What a vision! She loved the swishiness of the dress. She was happy that even if she did not get to have her party, she was able to turn 5 anyway. Such an easy girl to please...pretty dress and chocolate chip pancakes.

Otherwise, things are going pretty well around here. The rest of the family has not come down with strep so I am thankful for that. I am really struggling with the winter funk though. I have been fighting it, but winter is starting to get the best of me. Someone suggested to me taking some extra doses of vitamin D. Anyone heard of this? I figure the vitamin D will be good for me as I know I am not getting enough sunshine these days. If anyone has any suggestions for beating the winter blahs let me know!

Poor Ainsley...

yesterday I ended up having to take her in to the Drs office. Thursday night she began running a temperature of 101. Tylenol brought it down nicely so she could sleep comfortably, but in the morning she was still running a fever after the Tylenol wore off. Into the pediatrician we go Friday afternoon. Throat swab was taken after the nurse got a peek of what was in there. About 15 minutes later after being checked over by the Dr we got the news...the strep test was positive. We had to cancel going to the Father Daughter Valentines Dance and we had to cancel her party today. I was able to get in touch with all but one Mom, about which I felt terrible, but what can you do. I sent them home with a treat box and slices of cake for the family and they were very understanding. Strep seems to have been going around the girls class at school. I have some great pictures of Ainsley and our little family celebration. For someone so sick, she has been pleased as punch with her cake and our celebration. She was very understanding that we would cancel her party so that her friends would not get sick, but her concern was that she would not turn 5 without them. I had to explain that she would turn 5 anyway and once she understood that I had my happy girl again. Pics to follow...

Superbowl Party Smorgasbord...

My sweet hubby made and awesome and somewhat healthy Superbowl family party meal. The kids did not get to see the whole game as they had to get up early and head to school Monday morning, but they did cheerfully watch the first half without messing with Daddy too much. They complained later how they were too full, but at least they were full of healthy foods. Go Saints! I was so happy that they won!

It has been a week...

Trying to get caught up and failing miserably so once again I am wasting time playing around on the computer. Wednesday I volunteered at Ainsley's school for their swimming day. I was apprehensive at first because they asked if I would mind ringing a swimsuit and getting wet. The water was cold! Actually, I was pleasantly surprised with how well Ainsley's teacher had things organized. It was a very large group of kids but between teachers, aides, a few parents and a hired lifeguard everyone was covered. The group ended up being 2 of the morning 4K classes as well as part special needs class. What a great bunch of kids! A few struggled with having listening ears, but overall everyone did well. I was exhausted and my back was sore afterwards though. Thursday was spent running errands and preparing the project for Aidan's scout meeting. I had to send instructions with my hubby on how to use the paint supplies and now I have all the frames that the kids painted ready to be varnished for the next meeting. Today I will spend catching up on all the cleaning that I have put off the last few days and more errands to pick up items for school Valentine's parties. Next week I will focus on getting ready for Ainsley's birthday party. Actually, I am not doing much. I have a small art project for the girls to make. We will serve cake and ice cream and then let the girls just play. Easy for Mom! I do have to put some treat bags together to send home with the girls which will be easy since I bought items a few weeks ago on sale before all the Valentine's treats were too picked over. I just love Hobby Lobby for things like this...so helpful. Anyway, I had better quit wasting my time here while Ainsley is watching Sesame this morning then off to Wally world. Have a blessed and crafty weekend as tonight is craft night at church. Yay!
