B in Prague 2

More pictures of B's travels from over the weekend. This morning they headed over to Erfurt, Germany which is near Frankfurt. They have one other town in Germany to stop in before heading to Italy. He was telling about all the local pubs he and his group have stopped at. Hum, to much of a taste for Czech beer I would say. He was mentioning the huge differences between Czech and German architecture. Prague has old old buildings and style, in the large cities in Germany most everything is built in 1950 or later due to WW2. Interesting, I never thought about it before. Later gaters.

My Easter Bunnies

Since we missed Easter Sunday last week due to illness, I got the kids dressed up in their Easter clothes this morning for church. I love Ainsley's expression in this photo even though Aidan is looking a little squinty. It sure is hard to get that kid to smile for photos. Hope everyone had a great weekend. We made it to see Horton yesterday finally. It was very cute, even Aidan the movie critic liked it and was glad that we went. We even saw a preview for Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaur coming in July 2009. Should be cute. I wonder if it will have all the characters from the previous movie. Well anyway, later gaters.

Yippee!

We have heat again without having to replace the boiler. Well, we will have to do it eventually, but I don't have to do it today.

B in Prague

Needless to say B likes Czech beer. To update: it is still cold in my house, waiting on heating, but was able to get to the grocery store before picking up Aidan from school. Stop at McDonald's which has become our half-day of school tradition. Since had not time to eat in the restaurant, I decided to just hit the drive through. The thing was out of order so I had to go in anyway! We just made it home with a few minutes to spare before I told the heating people that I would be home. Still waiting and still cold.

No heat!

I was really cold in the house this morning when I got up. Usually when I shower the radiator is nice and warm heating the house up in the morning. Stone cold today. When I finally made it downstairs I checked the thermostat it was at 59 degrees. I was going to do some grocery shopping this morning, but instead came straight home to call the heating people. They will be out after lunch today. Of course this happens while B is away. Worst case scenario, we have to replace the boiler. I am hoping we won't have to and I can wait until B is back to think about replacing. I am hoping maybe it is the thermostat. In the mean time, I did not go to the store because of course Ainsley wants to watch a movie and is still very sensitive since being sick. She cries at the drop of a hat. Today I think she is mostly tired because she was up a ton last night first crying because her Daddy was lost and then later telling me that her face hurt. Not sure what that was about as I asked her and she is fine this morning. Well, I need to get off this computer and get my day started. Cat yacked on the floor this morning and this is my first chance to clean it up. Ick! Not my favorite job at all. Sorry for the rambling rant that is all I seem to do anymore. Later peeps!

I feel like I have dropped off the planet...

this past Easter weekend. Back to routine as much as normal. B leaves for his trip to Europe today so say some prayers for him and his co-workers for safe travel. Aidan went back to school this morning. He is still coughing, but he is much better than he was this past weekend. He was very upset with me that we did not go to church on Sunday! I had to remind him how sick he and Ainsley were. Ainsley is better, but not yet back to her old self. Last night was the first night she has slept through since Saturday and yesterday was her first fever free day. I am playing it day to day before throwing ourselves back into our normal activities. Ainsley has had a fairly illness free winter so this one knocked her down a peg. Not much else to report as I have been stuck at home for the past 4 days. Hopefully we will be getting out and about more soon. One nice note it that we have been on a bit of a warming trend so much of the snow is melting. Hopefully we can avoid the snow front coming through tomorrow. B was able to do some yard clean up this weekend as well. 3 1/2 months worth of dog poo that has been buried in various layers of snow! Ick! Later gaters.

When things don't go as planned...

you just have to roll with the punches as well as possible. Aidan was feverish, stuffy and coughing Saturday morning so Horton was cancelled. By afternoon Ainsley, was feverish as well. Ainsley woke me up about 2am with wheezing and barking cough. The dreaded croup. We spent about an hour dividing our time between the steamy shower and cold air outside. Then Ainsley snuggled in with Daddy for the rest of the night. She must have been exhausted because I did not even feel her wiggling around in the bed. Usually she is awful to sleep with because of all the flopping around she does. Easter Sunday was cancelled for us as well, but the kids still got their Easter basket. We will try to take some Easter photos next week. I still went in and covered Sunday nursery duty which ended up not being too bad because my friends daughter sat in my lap the whole time plus they made the classroom 3 and under only. Much better than the chaos of last year. Supposedly during 2nd service 60 people came to Christ. Amazing. I am sorry that we missed it this year, but hopefully we will all be healthy next year. I am hoping everyone had a nice restful day. HE IS RISEN!

Aidan is off...

froms school today for Easter break and the kids are in the other room playing Cloud City Attack. An Aidan creation based on Star Wars---they pull off the pillows on my cream couch and those are the clouds. At least they are being creative and not asking to watch TV or play video games as I am sure there will be plenty of that later. Today has started out quite dreary and cold. We are having an Easter egg hunt tonight when Daddy comes home and tomorrow I am hoping to go see Horton Hears a Who. Sunday I have Easter services and nursery duty. I am dreading nursery duty as they put all the children 5 and under in the same room. My eye is better at least so I don't have that to worry about. I still have antibiotics for a few more days, but no more goo at least.

Pensive today as I always seem to be on Good Friday. Hopefully we can just have a quiet family day. Well my friends I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend and since my laptop is back and software all loaded I am hoping to be posting more pictures again soon. Especially of children in their Easter Sunday duds. Later gaters!

When it rains it pours.

I woke up in the middle of the night with and itchy gooey eye. This morning it was swollen too. The Dr. said I have pink eye as a secondary infection to my cold from before. B calls this afternoon and he had an emergency dentist appointment. He cracked a front tooth playing racket ball. The dentist was able to fix it with dental filler and match the shape and color of the remaining tooth, but he can never eat corn off the cob again. I told him he can still eat the corn, he just has to cut it off the ear. He was still not happy with that option. I think he will just have to get over it. Oh well. Later gaters.

Mom update

She went in today to see the orthopedic surgeon and is in a hard wrist cast. She goes back in next week for an X-ray to make sure everything is healing well and then will be in it for another 4-6 weeks. Though break, no pun intended, for someone who works on the computer most of the day. Her pain is minimal and only uses the pain meds to ease the aching so she can sleep. Keep her in your prayers though for quick healing. Later guys!

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Hey guys...

please say some prayers for my Mom. I thought I was a clutz, but apparently today she slipped and fell on a wet bathroom floor and broke her wrist in two places. After a trip to the ER this afternoon, she is in a splint and has an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon to see if they need to put her in a hard cast or potentially have surgery. I could not help but laugh as she was telling me the story which makes me feel terrible, but it was funny! Ah well, I hope you all are having a great weekend. Later gaters!

Imagine...

me doing a happy dance. Ainsley went poopoo in the potty! If this continues I will say we are pretty close to potty trained. Whoohoo!

Irish Chain...

all laid out. The blocks are pressed and ready to start sewing together. I am going to make sure all the seams are facing the correct direction then start pinning strips together.
Voice is back, but throat is very sore still. Prayers for B and I for our health as he came down with the same congestion as I had this weekend. Prayers for Miss N and family for the loss of husbands Grandfather. Prayers for Miss J and family and the loss of her Uncle. Love you guys and later gaters!

We had fun...

yesterday. However, I have only one word, for what I came home with. LARYNGITIS. I have been fighting some sniffles all week and yesterday on the way home I think it got me. Later gaters!

Family Time

We are spending some much needed family time out today! B is getting off of work early to pick up Aidan as he has half a day of school today. They are going to pick up some lunch on the way home. Then we are headed here. http://www.kidmuseum.org/

Probably a descent day to go as not as many people will be there as on a weekend. We will probably also stop over at the Fox River Mall since we will be in town and pick up some dinner at some point as well. It will be an expensive day eating two meals out and museum admission, plus whatever shopping we might do, but we don't do it often. I am just thrilled that B was able to take off early. At the begining of the week I was just hoping he would take off about an hour to meet us for lunch as I usually take the kids out somewhere for a treat when there is a half day of school. We will do that next time I guess as they have half day again on the Thursday before Easter. They have the one half day then they have until the next Wednesday off for Easter/Spring Break. I wonder if we will still have snow on the ground for that? Later guys, hope you all have a great weekend!

Project Irish Chain

Pile of pressed blocks.
Huge pile of unpressed blocks.

View of completed pressed blocks.
This is a project in progress for quite some time. There are 81 blocks total. The fabric predates Aidan and you can see the improvement in my sewing skills over time. EEK! I have recruited a few people to keep asking me about this Irish Chain project to make sure I work on this and get it finished sooner rather than later. Could I be finished by B's birthday? It is possible if I keep my act together which is not always easy. I hope it will help keep me sane while B is in Europe at the end of the month. I just wanted to show you guys what I asked you to keep me accountable about. Later gaters!

The truth comes out...

I have been very please with Aidan apparently trying new things to eat by occasionally buying a hot lunch from school in the last few weeks. It is typically chicken nuggets and mini corn dogs, but I appreciated the break from trying to come up with new sack lunch ideas. Today Mrs. Kue his lunch time teachers assistant found me during morning drop off to tell me that he has not been eating more than one or two bites of the hot lunches. I knew something was up yesterday when I asked him about his lunch and if he liked what he had. Today he has a packed lunch and I told him that I would not let him buy lunch anymore if he wasn't going to eat it. The last two days especially she said he has not eated much of anything. I am so grateful that she told me. Aidan usually confesses when he doesn't eat all of his packed lunch. Well, here we go back to the drawing board. Anybody have any good lunch ideas, beyond the typical pb and j, turkey, ham, chicken nuggents and occasional pizza rolls. Yes, I have even given him pizza rolls in his lunch much against my better judgement, but I have been desperate. I am desperately in search of alternative protein sources for lunch that is packable. Sad day in Packerville...

Brett Favre retires!

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=txfavreretirement&prov=st&type=lgns

Sad day here, not in this house of course. I am sure this will be the top story on the evening news. Who will be the new QB? Did they even have a back up? I am sure we will be hearing a ton about this in the days to come.

So I need a better picture...

Turns out the picture I originally intended on using Ainsley had her eyes half closed. Oh well, I need to not take pictures in a rush. Half on my problem. Her hair looks so cute!

Feeling better today, still twingy but better. Watching my friends kids tonight so I need to get things picked up a bit. I have a sink piled high with dishes. It is almost lunchtime and we are all in pjs because I am lazy tired this morning. We need pajama day at least one morning a week don't you think? Later gaters!
