Aidan's art

Aidan's artwork was on display at a PTA function.  The ribbon was for participation.   This is a water color piece of his and he says he had trouble making it do what he wanted to.  He prefers to work in tempra paints.  This piece is supposed to be about recycling.

Aidan's grade performed some jazz tunes for a program and then we had the opportunity to view the elementary school art.  There are some very talented artists out there.

As for me, my ear pressure is slightly better.  I am loving my amoxicillin right now.  I am going to try to head to the gym today.  I have other errands to run so it is a bit of a busy one.  Hopefully I can catch a little nap while my Ainsley watches Sesame this afternoon.  I love that she still loves that show!  If I don't make it on here tomorrow, have an excellent weekend.  I will try to post again because Miss Ainsley has yet another dress up day.  This time they want to support the Tribe and have everyone wear their Indians gear to celebrate opening day.  I will see today if I can pick up a T-shirt for cheap.  If not she can always wear her Rangers T.  We are not big baseball fans here, but Grandpa sure is.

So I am always complaining lately...

of sickness.  That is because I have been sick with congestion or fever for the better part of a month now.  Yesterday I finally caved and went to the doctor because this crud migrated to my ears.  Pain pain pain!  Anyway, after leaving the clinic with a diagnosis of ear and sinus infection and prescription in hand, I think I can finally say I am hopefully on the mend.

I feel lately as if I haven't been an equal opportunity parent to my Aidan.  I love him dearly but there are just more dress up days in Kindergarten for me to document.  Last Friday however was school spirit day which also happened to be backwards day.  We picked a cool T-shirt and he wore it backwards.  I thought a T shirt would be a good choice since it would not have a collar to drive him crazy during the day.  Of course Miss Ainsley can not pass up an opportunity to get in on pictures.  She must be included!  I have another of her snuggled up to him.  He is rather cool though so I can't say that I blame her.

On the mend on the mend, skipped the gym today though.  I really need to get back on track!  I went yesterday, and will hopefully go tomorrow.  The Dr was pleased with my blood pressure though, she seems to think I am doing something right and said so.  Yay!  Good news even though I was feeling lousy.  B is away again this week and will be home Friday.  Friday ends his weight loss challenge.  After a 25 lb weight loss he is looking slim and trim.  However he is splurging this weekend, requesting lasagna and banana pudding on our Family movie night as well as wanting to go out to breakfast on Saturday and burritos at Chipotle sometime this weekend as well.  Then, he wants to continue some more weight loss to reach a personal goal.  Glad he is taking a break this weekend we are thrilled to be eating a breakfast out.  So fun!  My next post will have some pictures from this past weekend's PTA Art Reflections Program featuring the 3rd grade music classes from Aidan's school.  Very cute program!

Monday Monday...

Aidan and I are finally feeling a bit better today.  My fever broke on Saturday night, thankfully.  Aidan is still Mr congested, however, no fever and no more runny nose he is good to go to school.  I took all of last week off from the gym from feeling so poorly and now am having trouble motivating myself to get back in there.  Maybe if I just do a short workout, and ease myself back into the swing of things I will be okay.  If I can just get myself over there.  So tired!

Shout out to my nephew as this weekend was his first birthday party.  Haven't heard from anyone how it went or seen any pictures yet.  I hope I will soon.  Can't believe the little Mr is 1 already!

Yard visitors

These critters aren't actually in our yard.  Our boundary is the wooden stake you see in the picture.  The Canadian geese are in the wooded preservation area between our yard in another neighborhood.  These guys have been visiting the area daily since the weather has started warming and driving my poor geriatric dog crazy.  She is also bothered by the deer that appear from time to time in the evening.  I do not know what we are going to do about our fencing situation.  If we did not have the dog, I would say definitely not and set up boundaries with landscaping.  Not sure.

Anyway, two posts in one week.  Maybe a resurgence of thoughts is coming now that the weather is warming a bit.  Mid-60's yesterday and low 60s today so I am truly loving that.  Still sick though.  Cold symptoms are better, but now I am running a low grade fever for the last few days.  Same as Ainsley did a few weeks ago.  I hope I shake this soon because I am just so worn out!  Aidan woke up sniffly so I spoke too soon yesterday.  I am hoping this is just our change of season congestion and nothing more serious otherwise I am going to need to find myself a doctor sooner than I thought.  Have a good and restful weekend all!

Poor neglected blog...

I have always kept this as a kind of journal, but just have not been able to get to it of late.  When I have made the time to check in on it, I have had nothing to say.  I go through these times in the winter.  I am staying busy typically.  I try to go the the gym at least 4 mornings a week.  This week though I have been a slacker, as well as pretty sick.  Nasty cold that Ainsley must have passed on to me.  Each time she gets one since we have moved, I pick it up too.  New kids, new people, new bugs.  Aidan thankfully has been healthy since Christmas.

Things seem to be going well.  Construction on our basement has not started yet, but I did call Goodwill to clean out our garage.  They are coming to pick up tomorrow.  Tons of stuff!  I also finally made an appointment with a dentist in the area since we are all over due for cleanings.  I am not sure why I have been putting it off and off and off, but I finally got our insurance sorted and I am headed there next month.  Once I visit, I will make appointments for the kids.  We have found a babysitter as well.  Last month, B brought home the announcement for his work's winter party and awards dinner.  He said he would like me to go so I could meet everyone.  Needless to say, I had to be brave and ask my neighbors for some recommendations as far as teens who sit.  One neighbor works with a college student who also sits and we had her out for the even this past weekend.  The kids liked her and she said she would be happy to sit for them again.  I am so thankful!  She seems like a very nice girl and I do appreciate the fact that she is a bit older that other sitters we have had.

We are still working on making friends.  In a few weeks a neighbor is having a party to which we have also been invited.  I really don't like the idea of walking into a party where I don't know anyone, but it is an opportunity to meet more of the families that live around me.  So, if I can get our sitter to come out again then I think we will go.  It is not for a few weeks yet so I will let you know how it goes.

Well, I am off to rest a bit more before picking the little lady up from school.  On that note I will leave you with a shot from her recent birthday celebration.
