Well, we have had a week to say the least. I will start with the good stuff. VBS was phenomenal. I along with several other crew leaders had the 3rd graders, mostly boys, which made for interesting evenings. Very rambunctious to say the least. Our last 2 evenings had significant rain so outdoor play/games had to be brought inside and thankfully the sanctuary had been cleared out so the kids had a large space to run around. The kids blessed my socks off. There were some who just got it. Love that. I realized more fully that I do not have the desire to be a teacher full time. Tutoring would work for me, but to be in charge of a large class on my own with so many behavior issues is just not in my skill set. Exhausted every night I tell you! Truly a fun time and will definitely volunteer again if needed. This was Aidan's last year and he would like to volunteer just so that he would still get to go. So glad my kids and the others seemed to enjoy VBS so much.
My in-laws are still here. Staying with us all week even though we have been so busy. Their plans to continue on their trip keep changing so I will have to keep you posted. Last night I was told that they were going to continue on, leave their cats here and come back in a week or so when the trailer was repaired. They are aware that I had planned to take the kids for a few days to visit some friends in Wi and I was to keep my plans. This morning they tell me that they are just going to go home on Monday and come back for a few days in September and pick up the trailer. Don't know if they realize that both kids will be back in school by then. This has been a long visit. I love them, but explained to my husband that I have felt trapped all week. I don't like feeling as if I have to ask permission to manage my own home. They say I can just go about my business, but that isn't what happens during the day. Hubby says it is all good and I just need to go with the flow but it is not easy when the situation is on going like this and changing by the minute.
Ah well, enough about my stress. I have to start planning for back to school shopping and our trip to Wi. The kids were disappointed that we would not be spending the whole week with Dad there, but were happy that I was still willing to take them myself even if it is for a shorter trip. I haven't taken the kids on a road trip on my own for years! I used to periodically take them to visit my parents from time to time without B. Usually he would go with us, but when work would get in the way for whatever reason we would go on our own. I am a little excited. Once again stepping out of a box I have put myself in. Ease of stress and more fun times ahead.

First they are staying, then they are not and now...
they are staying again. My in-laws are causing my hubby some trouble already. Issues with the RV are causing them to head way out of their way for a repair. Needless to say there is an RV sales and service place not far from our home, but my FIL wanted to go to this national chain and the only one is a few hours from here. Not sure when they are going to make it, and they are going to need to say with us now that the RV is in need of repair. Say some prayers please. My hubby and his father are frighteningly similar which is why they butt heads from time to time. Both think they are right. Help my hubby go with the flow this weekend. I was ready for them to stay and was relieved last night when I was told that they weren't, but thankfully I had the basement ready for them. All I had to do today was run the vacuum cleaner. Such a busy time for us next week and hubby is going to be away on business so we may have some problems if they need to stay with us longer. Wow, what a way to start off a visit!

This week I am getting ready for my in-laws to visit. I am not sure yet if they are staying with me or not. They are hauling the RV and brought their cats with them. Hubby asked if I minded the cats coming in the house and I said my only request was that they stay in the basement and not have free reign. We do have a cat and an elderly dog to think of. The in-laws cats are bengals so they are quite a bit bigger than my little kitty. They could do some damage to her if they really wanted to and I don't want them to infringe to much on her "turf". So here we are at Tuesday they are arriving Wednesday and I don't even know what their plans are. Ah well, I will plan on them staying and just be done with it. If they end up not staying that just makes my life that much easier.
B's trip to our old town was cancelled and I am so sad. Thinking I may take the kids up for a few days on my own. I have not mentioned anything to the kids yet. I will check this week to see what hotel deals I can get. Beach trips and park visits with friends sound like so much fun. I think I need to do it. Well, I am off. If I don't get back to blog this week have a great week and weekend all! VBS next week for us and my first year as a volunteer. Scared to death, but in a good way. Stepping out of my box a bit. No, I am not teaching, just a crew leader making sure all the kids get to the different stations and then home with the correct parents. Fun fun fun!

Heartbroken...
my very best friend from high school's father passed away yesterday. I am so heartbroken over his passing. He was a pastor and a strong man of faith. Their family was like my second family. So sad. I had started this post yesterday, but never was able to get back to it. I was too upset. I just kept listening to I Can Only Imagine by Mercy Me which made me feel a little better.
B has a diagnosis for his vertigo issue. Mellier's disease, not sure if I am spelling that correctly. There is no real treatment except a low sodium diet and potentially diuretics. This week has been rather different for us so I will so some more research next week after our week goes back to normal.
This week we have a house guest. We got a call last week asking if we could host the coach for Aidan's soccer camp. I am thinking they did not have any volunteer host families, and I did not initially volunteer because we were away. This organization brings young soccer players from the UK over to teach spring and summer soccer camps. Aidan did the spring one and had a really good time so we signed him up for a week in the summer as well. While it is a little strange having someone you do not know stay with you for the week, it has been really nice getting to know him. The kids love him and he is very gracious and sweet. This has been a different experience and I am glad we did it. As I told my hubby, it is the right thing to do.
Actually, my in-laws are coming next week so there will be only 2 days of normal. Oh well. Have a great day and stay cool everyone.
