Sometimes I impress myself....

Aidan looks a bit shadowy in this one but I love the kids faces. This was backyard tree climbing on Memorial Day. Actually, Aidan did the climbing and B put Ainsley in the tree. I have an Aidan home sick today. Not sure what is wrong with him, except that he is complaining of an upset tummy and other issues so I put him on the no dairy bland diet and we will see where he goes from there. The class was at the school forest on Wednesday so maybe he picked up a bug while he was there. Otherwise, not much else to post right now. I have been working on pictures, but since we have been a house of the sick not much has been going on so not much to post about. My parents left Tuesday, B headed out of town again and I have just been trying to play catch up. The weather is icky and rainy today so it is a great day for the kids to be home snuggled under blankets watching Sesame Street and in pjs. Later taters!

I am the luckiest girl!

I have to say I really had my doubts about moving to Wisconsin. Those of you that new me then know this. I am not the most outgoing person in the world, and it is very difficult for me to step out of my box and make friends. I don't know how it happened, all I can say is it was the work of God, but I have some of the most special ladies in my life right now. The calls, e-mails, posts, the visits. You all know who you are and I love you all dearly. I have been sick, B has been away and you all have loved on me once again. You just can't imagine how much I appreciate that. B is coming home tonight thankfully. He called from Chicago and will be home around the time the kids get to bed and will mostly stay home with me tomorrow. He has to perform one interview then he can office from home as needed. He even offered to drive to the airport to get my parents! I have the best hubby ever. So he said he is going to come home tonight and clean for me before someone, me if I am feeling well, goes to get my folks. They already understand that I am sick but I am hoping to get them out and about this weekend. Town is having a Memorial Day parade which Aidan is marching in, so we will definitely be there for that and maybe some downtown area shopping, lunch and coffee on Saturday. I had even hoped to get a date night out of this so we will see. Anyway, in my delirium I have rambled on much longer than I had intended. I must go take some more pills before the pain reliever wears off! Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone.

All I can say is strep throat...

I can't seem to catch a break. Yesterday I around lunch time I was starting to feel really tired. Later that evening, I was still feeling puny, but I went out to dinner with a friend whose hubby is also out of town. By bed time, I was feeling lousy, feverish, sore throat, sore ear, achy. Generally bad. B insisted I go to the doctor this morning. After a long night of contunially waking and falling to sleep again, I got the kids up, Aidan dropped off at school and went over to the walk in clinic as they open before 8. They kept me in the room for about 15 minutes after swabbing my throat when the Doctor comes in to chat a bit, ask what is wrong, and drops the bomb that my strep test was positive. Quarantine as much as possible for 24 hours and keep an eye on the kids for fever, fussiness and the like. Nice. I am so thrilled. Just as we are getting warmer weather I get sick again! B offered to come home early. Last night Aidan told me that he would help me out because he is the man of the house while Daddy is away. Hopefully I will be a tad better before my parents arrive.

OMG!

New Kids on the Block are on the Today show this morning. Blast from the past. I have seen them around and they all look so old! What does that say about me since they are a part of my past! Eek! Hopefully I will get a chance to catch them this morning...only if they are going to sing one or two of their old songs though. Not too hopeful about what any new material might sound like. Later tater tots!

Updates and such...

With our crazy busy errand running weeks we have had I have gotten behind in posting anything meaningful as well as getting behind in my photos due to computer problems. So I am going to work from the most recent on back. A few weeks ago some singer/songwriters came to Aidan's school to work on writing music with the kids. Friday evening was their concert. They performed all kinds of songs even songs that the kids helped to write. It was such a fun evening. As we left we bought their CD and both kids already have every song memorized. If anyone comes across Songs by Tom and Stuart, I suggest you pick up a copy. They are great.

Can you find Aidan in this picture? He is wearing a red shirt, in the front row, almost in the middle.

Saturday was Soccer Saturday and the weather was finally sunny and dry to take pictures.

Here are Aidan and team members waiting for the other team to throw the ball in. Ainsley was cold this morning as it was a bit windy at the soccer field. She is the ultimate light blue team soccer fan.

Saturday I did get to get away for some girls day shopping. Fun and productive as well as I was able to get everything on my needs list. Even bra shopping! Exciting I know but necessary. Sunday was a nice quiet Mother's day. We went to the early service at church then to brunch at Perkins where they have the best pancakes on the planet. It seems that about half of my hubby's employees had the same idea. B did quite a bit of catching up in yard work this weekend as well. He rented a sod cutter and cut out the grass for flower beds as well as a vegetable garden. Hopefully the plant man will be at the farmer's market this weekend. He already put in a thornless blackberry bush, blueberry bush, several lilacs, rhodedendrons, and burning bush. I will be excited to get the veggies started as last year we had an excellent haul of tomatoes and peppers. I hope to get some more variety in there not that I have graduated from containers to an actual plot of ground. The stone patio we wanted to put in may need to be put off until next season. Much more expensive than we expected and we already planned to replace our boiler this fall. Looking foward to lower heating bills with the high efficiency system we will be installing. We will see...we have another estimate coming so we will see what they have to say. Well that is the update for now, hopefully I can get my act together and work on more pictures this week and I will post them as I have them done. Later taters!

Some cool pictures of Aidan playing with some of his birthday toys. I was talking with a friend about Aidan and his fake smile. She gave me some advice and with B's help it worked so as long as B is home I can take decent pictures of Aidan.
On another note, looks like I am going to take a girls day shopping trip on Saturday as part of my Mother's day gift. I told B not to get me anything because what I really wanted was some time to myself. He wasn't terribly happy about this as I think he wanted to go shopping too, but we can go next week for his birthday. I got him this really cool coffee maker that grinds and brews and that has a carafe that keeps the coffee fresher longer. The coffee pot was something I was surprised that he wanted, but the coffee maker we have is about 12 years old, so I would say that we got our money's worth out of it.
I have had a super busy week running errands and such. I have to go to the grocery store tomorrow for some odds and ends for the weekend. I have to get my oil changed because it is shamefully overdue. I also have to get to the post office to mail a gift for my MIL also that will be late. Oh well, at least I got my Dad's gift ordered, Mom's gift mailed, and MIL gift out on time. Can't win them all. Oh, I just remembered I have to deposit a check at the bank and pick up dry cleaning as well. B is taking tomorrow off to to work on the yard. He has all these projects that he wants to get done but no time to get them done. He has worked too many Saturday's so far this year, but with soccer in season he has not been working so much and for that I am grateful. That's it for now, later taters.

What a week I am having...

and it is only Monday early afternoon. I tried an experiment this weekend. I did not turn on my computer. Can you believe it. Turns out I did not even miss it. I may have to have computer free weekends from now on, except of course when I have to order my third Saturday block of the month. Soccer again this weekend and it rained again. One of these days it will stop raining so that I can get some soccer pics. Still trying to work on scheduling our trip to Texas. Who knew it would be so tough. Tonight is the night that I think we are going to try to decide what to do. I will keep you posted as I know all you southerners are anxiously waiting. Otherwise, I feel like I have been running around like a chicken all morning. Grocery store, friends call so stop at the park, quick run to the grocery again as I realize I must have left a bag on the carosel, quick lunch, Ainsley napping, start laundry and dishes and clean up living room, stop at computer to take a peek and now getting sleepy. Too much to do must not nap!

If you think about it add my Mom to prayer lists once again. Her wrist still has not healed. Turns out after some blood work that she is low on vitamin D which is odd for a southerner, plus she is taking a megasupplement of Vitamin D plus calcium per doctors orders to help combat early osteoperosis. For the next 30 days she is taking another type of supplement in hopes to up the vitamin D and calcium levels. Hopefully her body will absorb this, she is only 57 much too young to be worrying about fractures and such already. Thats all for now, later taters and happy Cinco de Mayo.

Busy week of doing nothing...

I think the title says it all don't you. I have been running around like a chicken for the last few days. I am not sure how I have gotten any chores done! Yesterday a friend and I headed down to Trader Joes. I think we were all worn out when we got back. B was kind enough to bring a bucket of chicken home for dinner. Needless to say after the lunch I had, I really did not partake too much. This morning, I am trying to catch up a bit and do some laundry and take care of some bills. Fun city. I am having some allergy issues, so I took some Benadryl last night and it sure helped and I am feeling much better today.

An update to friends from home: Looks like that for reasons I cannot control we will be headed south in July sometime after the 4th weekend, which stinks because it is darn hot in July and so nice here. Not sure of exact dates yet, but we will keep you all posted. Can't wait to get to see you guys!
